Who discovered + and –?

The concept of positive and negative numbers, as well as the symbols + and - for indicating them, were developed by mathematicians in ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and the Greeks. However, the specific symbols + and - as we know them today were not used until the 16th century by German mathematician Johann Widmann.
