When did the use of paper start?

The use of paper is believed to have originated in China during the Han Dynasty, around 105 AD. Paper was made from a variety of materials such as mulberry bark, hemp, and rags. It was used primarily for writing and printing. The process for making paper was kept a closely guarded secret by the Chinese for several centuries before it eventually spread to other parts of the world.
